Ever Tested a Generator That Didn't Cooperate?

Dexter takes you behind the scenes of his first round of testing on the Cummins Onan P5000iDF EFI dual fuel inverter generator. Things don't always go smoothly. From the moment the unit comes out of the crate, you'll see the unexpected hiccups, real-time troubleshooting, and the lessons learned that never show up on a manufacturer spec sheet.

Did you know manufacturers rarely publish cold-weather start specs for portable generators? You'll find peak watts, runtime, and decibels on the data sheet, but not the actual temperature at which a unit will reliably start. Electric start, EFI, and dual fuel are all features that can behave very differently below zero, and the only way to know what actually works is to chill one down and try it. Subscribe and stay tuned for part two, where we find the real cold-weather working window for this unit.
