Two Modules per Frame with the IntegraRack IR-EW15
The IR-EW15 BallastRack carries two large-format residential or commercial PV (Photovoltaic) modules on one frame, one facing east and one facing west, joined at the ridge by a pair of coupler brackets. Doubling the modules per structure lowers the cost per kilowatt, and because an East/West array does not need the wide inter-row gaps a south-facing array uses to avoid self-shading, you can fit more capacity into the same ground area. Each frame accepts modules up to 34 square feet, with a minimum module length of 69 inches, and weighs 16.5 pounds.
How East/West Changes the Production Curve
A south-facing array concentrates its output around solar noon. The IR-EW15's opposing 15-degree faces stretch that output toward the morning and the evening, filling in the shoulders of the day. IntegraRack also states the layout can improve output on overcast days, when light is diffused rather than directional, though real production depends on your latitude, module choice, and local weather.
Rail-Free Clamping and Bonding With the IR-F2
The IR-F2 Flange Clamp Bonding Bracket does the work of both a mid clamp and an end clamp, so there are no rails to buy or install. Each bracket is zinc-electroplated A1008 carbon steel and carries a 25A rating, with built-in sharp barbs piercing the module frame as the clamp is tightened, establishing the electrical bond in the same motion that secures the module. Eight brackets ship with each frame.
Grounding and Code Compliance
IntegraRack systems use UL 2703 Recognized bonding components and meet UL 2703 electrical bonding requirements when installed according to the instructions. The IR-F2 handles module-to-frame bonding, while grounding the completed array to NEC 250 and NEC 690, including any frame-to-frame bonding, should be carried out by a qualified professional such as a licensed electrician or solar contractor.
Installation Without Concrete or Augers
Because the frame is ballasted or anchored with a mounting kit rather than set in concrete, there are no footings to pour, no augers to drill, and no posts to pound. The basic sequence is to assemble the frames, space them apart, secure them with your chosen mounting kit, mount the modules, and install the Ridge Coupler Brackets that tie the two faces together at the peak. Frames connect to one another along a run of 1-inch EMT conduit, sourced separately at any hardware or electrical supplier.
Engineering, Testing, and Warranty
IntegraRack manufactures its racking in Las Vegas, Nevada. The IR-EW15 was validated through wind tunnel testing at the Kirsten Wind Tunnel at the University of Washington and through mechanical load testing by Phoenix National Laboratories, an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab, and the datasheet ratings are taken from that data. Every IntegraRack product carries a 25-year limited warranty that provides parts replacement for manufacturer defects.
Wind and Snow Load Ratings
The IR-EW15's wind rating depends on how it is anchored and on module size. The ratings below are pulled from Kirsten Wind Tunnel data and mechanical load testing.

Maximum snow load is 60psf for modules up to 24sqft and 40psf for modules up to 34sqft. In lateral load testing by Phoenix National Laboratories, the IR-EW15 frame itself showed no permanent deformation. However, when the load reached 1,540 pounds, the solar module's own frame began to yield while the IR-EW15 frame did not.

Not anywhere. EarthScrews need medium-to-high-density compacted soil, and they are not compatible in regions with frost depths greater than 20 inches. Each screw should be site-tested to hold at least 1,000 pounds of uplift. For loose, sandy, rocky, or deep-frost sites, the EarthBallast or SlabBallast options are the better fit.
