Description

Cummins’ Onan P2500i portable generator is gasoline powered and ideal for use in an RV, campsite, or home. It’s an inverter generator, it’s compact and lightweight, and its full one-gallon fuel tank can run 550W continuously for 10 hours. At only 48lbs without fuel, it’s easy to take on mobile adventures, and it is strong enough to start high demand loads such as a portable table saw. 

This portable generator runs continuously at 2.2kW, with a peak power output of 2.5kW. The 2.2kW is enough to power an air conditioner for roughly 2.5 hours. If a configuration requires additional power, it’s possible to parallel two P2500i’s for a maximum output of 5kW. 

The paralleling process is simple and requires a single cable connecting the two generators. Both generators can run an air conditioner and other appliances for a few hours, but total run time depends on the total power output. 

This compact generator includes two outlets and two USB ports above a system display screen. The digital display shows detailed information about the output voltage, output current, and remaining run time. LEDs beside the panel also indicate the fuel level and power output percentage. 

This generator is CARB (California Air Resources Board) certified. This means it adheres to California’s strict regulations regarding pollutants emitted by technology. As a CARB certified generator, it is legal to operate in California or other states that adhere to CARB standards.

As an inverter generator, it has low THD (Total Harmonic Distortion). This means the generated power has few fluctuations in frequency or voltage, creating premium power that is safe for sensitive electronic devices like clocks, fans, and TVs. 

Accessing the P2500i’s interior for maintenance is simple and requires no tools. A single rotating lock holds the side panel in place, and removing the panel allows users to manually check the oil level, fill the oil, or perform other maintenance tasks.

Onan’s ultra-quiet 2.5kW generator is well insulated to eliminate excess noise. It runs around 73dB (decibels) under normal operation, but the ECO option can drop this to 52dB. The ECO option conserves fuel by limiting the motor RPMs to only that needed by the required loads, and it allows for greater surge capacity.
