The Beginning
We started Current Connected on YouTube, where we made videos to document our off grid lifestyle in 2020. While working full time jobs, we carved out time in a tiny Idaho shop to test battery cells extensively, sharing every detail with our audience.
One video gained significant traction, and viewers began asking where they could buy the products we were using. That’s when we realized we could provide energy solutions directly to customers, eliminating their need to purchase from large corporations with exorbitant costs or taking the risk purchasing shady products from overseas sources.
We continued rigorously testing and learning about every product we could get our hands on, using them ourselves and sharing honest results, both good and bad. This became the foundation of our business.
We operated out of two shipping containers we welded together which served as both office and warehouse. Living off grid full-time, we knew firsthand what it took to build and maintain these systems. We supported five people across several acres of private property, living well beyond basic necessity.
There was no separation between our work life and home life. Every challenge we faced in our DIY off-grid environment informed our product selection and customer service. The hard lessons we learned became the solutions we offered. To this day, we make decisions based on our lived experiences, our rigorous testing, and the real world feedback from our customers.
Growth and Expansion
We soon found our double-wide container bursting with orders, and we could no longer sustain Current Connected from that property. We moved to Las Vegas and opened our first fulfillment center in 2021. It was a huge milestone.
More space meant we could provide more products while maintaining our mission to provide solutions based on customer needs. We started carrying inverters, charge controllers, solar panels, and components for complete systems.
Building Industry Relationships
As our community grew, so did our network. We met many amazing people with valuable insight as we continued our journey through the industry.
Manufacturers, installers, and other distributors became partners rather than just suppliers or competitors. These relationships opened doors to better products and increased our knowledge about emerging technologies and industry shifts.
Our team grew to match the growing complexity of our business. We went from less than 10 employees to over 20 employees in just under two years. The skills and expertise of each new hire strengthened our ability to effectively serve our customers, and each shared the commitment to meet customer needs and keep energy solutions accessible and understandable.
Back to the Start
Opening the Idaho location brought us back to our roots, returning to the state where we first started testing batteries in that tiny shop while working full time jobs. From that original cramped spot where we filmed our first YouTube videos to a facility that serves customers across the entire United States, our Idaho facility represents how far we’ve come while keeping us connected to where we started.
While Las Vegas remains our primary fulfillment center, Idaho embodies both our humble beginnings and our growth. The location handles specific shipments and provides onsite pickup for local customers. Both locations maintain the highest standards for product selection, pricing, and customer service.
Shaping the Future Through Community
As a company, we continually strive to improve. When customers request specific items or express interest in new technologies, we expand our offerings to accommodate those requests. We continually adapt to feedback and investigate better ways to serve. We remain flexible and focused on real-world needs rather than abstract business plans.
Our staff reflects the diversity of our customer base, coming from a variety of backgrounds in the energy industry and beyond. Team members have extensive exposure to off-grid living, residential solar installation, RV modifications, marine electrical systems, and commercial projects.
This range of backgrounds connects us with each customer’s unique needs, and we bring real-world experience to the conversation.
Training is constant and ongoing. The industry changes rapidly with new products, updated code requirements, evolving best practices, and shifting regulations. Every team member participates in regular training sessions which cover industry trends, compliance requirements, product updates, and customer service techniques.
The Mission Continues
From a couple of shipping containers to multiple locations serving customers across the contiguous United States, our mission has not changed. We will always be an approachable, DIY-friendly distributor of energy solutions, backed by competitive prices and exceptional service. We rigorously test our products in-house, and we constantly analyze real requests for real-world conditions.
We know that DIY presents unique situations and unprecedented challenges. There isn’t always a manual, a YouTube video, or a walk through for a complicated or custom system, but chances are high that we have worked on something similar.

After studying Business & Accounting at North Idaho College, Jarrett is pursuing his dream of being a business owner. When Jarrett isn’t making sure every “i” is dotted and every “t” is crossed, he interacts with customers to ensure their experience is pure satisfaction. Jarrett’s technical skills and an eye for excellence have brought stunning photography to the site, making product and system ideas into beautiful realities you can see before clicking “checkout”.

It took Dexter some time to realize that he could never be satisfied in one place doing one job for the rest of his life. Starting Current Connected has been an endeavor and dream that has kept him learning new things daily. He loves that he can put his technical expertise to use, helping customers design their systems, troubleshoot problems, and keep the wheels turning. Every day presents a new challenge that keeps him excited to grow the business to new heights.

What would we ever do without Pepper? Pepper has a critical responsibility (besides eating lots of treats!) He keeps an eye on the office to ensure no sneaky surprises (like mice) appear in someone’s box! Pepper was rescued from a tank supply yard in Chowchilla, CA, and “chose” Dexter & Jarrett as his forever beloved owner. PURR!!!
