Description

The IntegraRack IR-05 BallastBase Flat Roof Mount is a solar panel mounting solution that is ideal for a flat roof or deck. It’s capable of housing various sized solar panels at a 5° angle, so panels in one array can be different sizes or orientations. These racks are weather resistant and durability tested against extreme conditions in a variety of situations and configurations, withstanding winds up to 120mph.

The roof mounts are designed to hold solar panels as large as 700W in landscape or portrait orientation and include a handle for carrying and placement. Lock these into the final position with either cinder blocks, IntegraGel adhesive, or bolts.

Each solar panel needs both mounts and brackets for effective assembly. An individual panel needs two IR-05 mounts, and each panel row needs two additional mounts at the end of the row. For example, one row of five panels requires 12 mounts, and two rows of seven panels each need 32 mounts.

The solar panels need IR-F2 Bonding Brackets to attach to the IR-05 mounts, one for each IR-05 mount it connects to, for a total of four brackets per solar panel. The IR-F2 brackets have sharp barbs that dig into the mount to secure it into place and prevent the brackets from slipping.

The IR-05 mounts have three methods for installation. The ballasted and adhesive options work for both roof and deck installations, while the bolted mounting option is viable for installation on decks only.

  • The ballasted method requires standard 4×8×16in cinder blocks, one per mount, to weigh it down. This mount includes a handle for carrying it to the desired location for final installation.
  • The adhesive method uses IntegraRack’s IntegraGel, a two-part epoxy that comes with a self-mixing nozzle, to secure the mount onto the surface. The solar panels can be installed after the IntegraGel sets. One tube of IntegraGel is needed for every five IR-05 mounts.
  • The bolted (deck) mounting method follows the same procedure as the adhesive method, however bolts are installed in the base of the mount before the epoxy sets. IntegraRack recommends using EPDM sealing washers with the bolts for added strength. The epoxy creates a watertight seal around the bolts, preventing moisture from entering through the bolt holes.

In systems with multiple rows of panels, utilize IntegraRack IR-B1 Bonding Jumpers to bond the panels together. The IR-B1 Bonding Jumpers come in 8in and 12in lengths.

If using adhesive or deck mounting options, cinder blocks are not needed for installation.

This mounting system can be used directly on roofs or placed on decks with a surrounding wall. Installations without existing walls require a barrier to prevent wind from gaining lift beneath the panels.
