Hybrid or Off-Grid: Which EG4 Inverter?

Hybrid: 18kPV, 12kPV, and FlexBOSS

Hybrid inverters work with the grid. They run your home on solar and battery, back it up when the grid goes down, and can send extra solar back to the utility where your interconnection agreement allows it.

Off-grid: 6000XP and 12000XP

Off-grid inverters run without a utility connection. They can still use the grid or a generator as a charging input, but they don’t export power, which keeps cabins, shops, and remote homes simple.

Either way, pair the inverter with EG4 batteries that are listed with it if you’re pulling a permit. Our UL 9540 page explains why that matters.

Many EG4 inverters and batteries carry UL 9540 as listed combinations, such as the LifePower4 V2 with the 18kPV. Check each product page for its listed pairings.
