Description

EG4’s 3000EHV 48V Off-Grid Inverter is a pure sine wave inverter ideal for beginners or scalable systems. It can handle up to 5kW input from solar, and it continuously outputs up to 3kW. This is enough to power small systems such as an RV or small shop, but for systems requiring more power, it’s possible to wire up to 12 units in parallel for a total output of up to 36kW.
Installation requires only a few screws to mount the 3000EHV to the wall, and this inverter comes with a 125Adc breaker, a 6in DIN rail, and several cables, including 4AWG battery cables. These convenient additions make it easy to install the entire system.
As an EG4 inverter, it’s designed to communicate with EG4 batteries through closed-loop communication. This communication sends battery voltage, SOC (State of Charge %), and other information directly to the inverter.
The integrated LCD screen makes it easy to set up the inverter and provides a simple way to adjust basic settings as needed. The included WiFi dongle also makes it possible to remotely monitor inverter settings with the SmartESS Wi-Fi APP.
The 3000EHV has several different operation modes. The following features determine how the inverter prioritizes incoming power.
- SBU – Uses solar first, then battery power, and finally AC input, such as the grid. This is ideal when trying to use as little grid power as possible.
- SUB – Use solar first, then AC input, and finally battery power. This is ideal when the system’s primary purpose is for emergency backup. The system runs from the solar array as much as possible, but keeps the batteries available in case of emergency.
- UTL – Use AC input first, like a generator. Then use solar, and finally use battery power. This is ideal for off-grid situations that maximize generator usage.
In a system with the 3000EHV and EG4 batteries, it’s also possible to program the inverter to switch to or from AC input based on the battery SOC. This is particularly useful when using SBU mode to reserve energy. If the grid goes out, the system switches to the available solar and battery power.
This feature is useful for maximizing solar use throughout the day. In the morning, batteries may have low SOC, and since the sun is low, the solar panels cannot yet produce power. The inverter could direct AC power to the batteries, or it could wait for available solar power, preventing potential solar power waste throughout the day.
Choose the 3000EHV for a reliable inverter that delivers up to 3kW continuous power, or use it in a scalable system.

I just received the Eg4 3000 inverter. I haven’t mounted it yet, but that is for a reason. Current Connected has the dimensions listed incorrectly, and the place I was going to mount this unit will need to be modified, since the unit is actually 5.5″ from the wall to the front of the unit, not the 4.1″ listed on their site, or in the Eg4 spec. sheet on this unit. I have a door that needs a specific amount of clearance to open properly, and now this unit will cause an issue with that door, and I can’t put the unit in another spot so…..this should be fixed on the site and in the spec. sheet. I’ll still give it a 5 star review, for now, because this isn’t really an issue with the unit.

Thank you for the feedback! We reached out to EG4 on this issue, and they have updated the spec sheet to reflect this change. We apologize for the inconvenience! If there is anything further we can assist with, please let us know and we will be happy to help.

After watching Will Prowse video on building a off grid system https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pd5IqeBq42k I ordered this inverter. It arrived via FedEx Freight. It will well packaged and secured on the pallet. The inverter is perfect size and was simple to get up and running and I am happy I stuck with Will’s recommendation. CurrentConnected ordering was easy and processed quickly! I will be ordered more after I watch more of Will’s videos.
