Product Summary
The Epoch GC2 module is a complete 48V LiFePO4 battery with its own BMS, in a GC2-size case that weighs about 33 lb. Swap a string of heavy 6V or 8V lead-acid batteries for one module on short runs, or wire matched modules in parallel when your cart needs more range.

About the Epoch 48V 30Ah GC2 Golf Cart Battery
A lead-acid golf cart pack is six or eight heavy batteries wired in series. The Epoch GC2 module replaces that string with one 48V lithium battery. You get a single BMS, a single pair of terminals, and about 33 lb to lift into the tray. Epoch rates it for 4,000+ cycles at 90% depth of discharge. At one cycle a day, that works out to more than ten years.
The IP67 case is dust-tight and rated for temporary immersion to 3.3 ft (1 m) for 30 minutes. Rain, puddles and splash are part of the job. The pack is certified to UL 2271, the UL standard for batteries in light electric vehicles. Its BMS protects against overcharge, over-discharge, short circuits and out-of-range temperatures.
Adding Range With Parallel GC2 Modules
One module covers light, short-distance use in a compatible 48V cart. Need more for longer days, hills or passengers? Wire two, three or four modules in parallel for 60Ah, 90Ah or 120Ah at the same 48V. Epoch's warranty excludes banks that mix batteries of different models, capacities, ages or charge states. Build the pack from matched modules at the same state of charge, and leave lead-acid out of it. Our team is happy to help with sizing a pack for your cart.
Charging a 48V LiFePO4 Golf Cart Battery
Lithium wants a lithium charger. Epoch sets the maximum charge voltage at 57.6V and recommends 20A of charge current per module, with 30A as the ceiling. If your charger is built only for lead-acid, or runs desulfation or equalization cycles, it needs a LiFePO4 profile before it touches this battery. The Victron Smart IP43 Charger 48/13 puts out up to 13A, inside Epoch's recommendation for a single module. You set it up from your phone over Bluetooth.
Monitoring a GC2 Battery Over CAN Bus
Each module has two CAN bus ports. Epoch's GC2 fuel gauge connects over CAN to show system voltage, current and capacity. Epoch's GC2 Bluetooth module adds monitoring in the Epoch app. Both are separate accessories. Want a Victron view of the pack? Installing GC2 Modules: Fit, Cables and Fusing
Cart trays vary. Before you order, measure the tray, hold-downs and cable clearance against the module's 10.7 × 10.2 × 7.1 in (H×W×D) case. Size cables and any overcurrent protection to the 60A continuous rating, not the 100A, 10-second surge. Keep every crimp clean and tight, because Epoch's warranty excludes damage from undersized cables and poor crimps. Our custom battery cables are made to order from 6 AWG to 4/0 AWG at the lengths your cart needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Epoch lists 32°F (0°C) as the lowest charging temperature for this module, and it doesn't list an internal heater. In freezing weather, charge the cart somewhere that stays above 32°F, like a heated garage.
Check the controller's continuous and peak draw against what your pack can supply. Each module is rated 60A continuous and 100A for 10 seconds. Modules in parallel share the load. If your controller pulls more than one module can deliver, you'll need a second module or more. Epoch also recommends confirming the charger and tray fit before you switch a cart to lithium.
Epoch's spec sheet calls for storing the module at about 50% charge, at 32°F to 86°F (0°C to 30°C), for up to six months. Epoch also calls for recharging it at least every six months during long storage.
Epoch repairs or replaces the battery free for the first three years. From year four through year eleven, Epoch offers 40% off MSRP on a replacement. Register the battery with Epoch soon after purchase and keep your receipt.
