Product Summary
The Epoch 48V 100Ah V2 Elite gives a 48V inverter system 5.12kWh of LiFePO4 storage in an IP67 case that heats itself before charging in the cold. It reports to your Victron GX device over CAN and scales to 16 batteries in parallel, a clean step up for RV, marine and off-grid systems that have outgrown 12V.

About the Epoch 48V 100Ah V2 Elite Battery
A 48V system moves the same power at a quarter of the current a 12V system needs. That means smaller cables, lower losses and less heat at every connection, which is why 48V suits the larger inverter systems in RVs, boats and off-grid cabins. The Epoch 48V 100Ah V2 Elite delivers that platform in one 5.12kWh LiFePO4 battery, with the BMS, self-heating and Victron communication built in and Bluetooth through the included gauge.
Inverter loads sit comfortably on it. Epoch's example puts a 2,000W load through a 90% efficient inverter at about 43A from the battery, and even a 3kVA inverter-charger at full output stays well below the 1C (100A) discharge rate behind Epoch's cycle-life rating. A Victron MultiPlus-II 48V 3kVA inverter-charger pairs naturally with one battery, and the bank grows from there.
Victron CAN and Bluetooth Monitoring
The included harness connects to VE.Can 1 or 2 on a Cerbo GX MK2 (set to 500 kbit/s), or the BMS-CAN port on other GX devices. With DVCC on and Epoch set as the controlling BMS and battery monitor, every Victron charger in the system follows the battery's limits. That matters at 48V, where an inverter-charger and solar chargers together can top the battery's 100A continuous charge rating; the GX keeps the combined total in check.
The Bluetooth gauge adds a second view in the Epoch Li-Ion app: state of charge, cell voltages, temperatures and alerts for each battery, plus firmware updates over the air.
Cold-Weather Charging in an IP67 Case
The V2 Elite heats its own cells using incoming charge power, not stored energy. The BMS pauses charging at 32°F (0°C) cell temperature and resumes at 41°F (5°C), which supports charging from -22°F (-30°C) ambient, and discharge runs down to -4°F (-20°C) with no heat needed. The UL94 V-0 case is dust-tight and IP67 rated for temporary immersion to 3.3 ft (1 m) for 30 minutes, so lockers, exterior bays and cabin battery boxes are all fair game. IP67 covers temporary immersion, not pressure washing or continuous submersion.
Building a 48V Battery Bank in Parallel
This is a native 48V battery, so banks grow in parallel only: up to 16 batteries for 1,600Ah and 81.92kWh. Epoch recommends busbar connections over daisy-chaining battery to battery, so every battery in a growing bank charges evenly.
Each battery is rated for 150A of discharge for up to 20 minutes, about 7,680W DC before inverter losses, and 300A for 30 seconds to cover start-up surges from compressors, well pumps and power tools. Epoch notes the 150A figure is not for cycling, and its guidance is to add batteries in parallel whenever the inverter's DC input can exceed 150A. Our team is happy to help with sizing a bank around your loads.
Fusing, Cables and Mounting for a 48V LiFePO4 Battery
Epoch's manual asks that installation be done by someone who understands DC electrical systems: lithium charge settings, overcurrent protection, conductor sizing and terminal torque. Here's how each applies to this battery.
The internal 270A fuse protects the battery, not your wiring. Epoch calls for a DC-rated fuse or breaker in the positive conductor, close to the battery, rated for at least 58.4V with enough interrupt capacity for a lithium bank, and sized at 125 to 150% of the system's maximum operating current without exceeding the cable's ampacity. For one battery working at its full 150A rating, a 225A Class-T fuse lands right at Epoch's 150% figure, as long as the cable is rated for at least 225A.
Size conductors for the 150A rating and acceptable voltage drop rather than the 30-second peak. Our custom battery cables are made to order from 6 AWG to 4/0 AWG at the lengths you measure. Torque the M8 terminals to 71 to 106 in-lb (8 to 12 N·m).
Mount the battery upright and secure it against vibration, braking and wave impact; the Epoch V2 Elite mounting hardware bolts to the six M8 nuts on the case. It ships at about 30% charge, so give it a full charge before first use.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. It's a standalone LiFePO4 battery in its own IP67 case for RV, marine and off-grid installs, not a rack-mount module for an indoor equipment rack. It sits on a floor, shelf or tray rather than sliding into rack rails.
Set absorption to 56.8V for at least 15 minutes per battery in the bank, float to 54.0V and re-bulk to 53.2V, with equalization and temperature compensation off. The BMS cuts off at 58.4V.
On a Victron system with DVCC, the GX applies the battery's limits automatically, and Epoch's manual lists these same values for programming the MultiPlus and every other charge source as a fallback. For alternator charging, Epoch recommends a DC-DC charger or a lithium-set alternator regulator.
Epoch lists 48V golf carts and vehicles, and electric propulsion support on boats, as fits where the controller, charger, space and current requirements match. Check the motor controller's draw against the discharge ratings above, confirm the charger can run the lithium settings, and measure the space for a 97 lb battery about 21 in long.
Only to other C48100A batteries of similar age and use. Epoch requires matched batteries of the same model, capacity and state of charge, so the V2 Elite shouldn't share a bank with lead-acid, other Epoch models (including the 48V V2-T) or other brands. Charge each battery to full on its own before connecting the bank.
Epoch lists UL 1973 for the battery pack; UL 1642, UL 9540A and IEC 62619:2022 for the cells; and UL 60691 for the internal fuse. It ships as UN 3480, Class 9.
UL 9540 is a separate, system-level listing for a complete energy storage system, not a battery on its own. If your AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) asks about UL 9540 for a stationary install, the answer depends on the whole system.
Epoch repairs or replaces the battery free for the first five years, then offers 40% off MSRP on a replacement from year six through year eleven. Register within 90 days of purchase or keep your proof of purchase.
Coverage excludes operating outside the published limits and leaving the battery uncharged for more than three months. If the system sits for the season, store the battery at 50% charge or more and check it at least every three months.
