Product Summary
The MC is the 334Ah Essentials battery for 12V systems built around Victron: it talks CAN-bus to a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, which passes its charge limits to your Victron chargers. Its 300A continuous BMS, with 600A for 10 seconds, feeds a big 12V inverter from one steel-cased battery tucked under a bed or inside a cabinet.

About the Epoch 12V 334Ah MC Essentials Battery
Plug the MC's CAN port into the BMS-Can port on a Victron Cerbo GX MK2 or an Ekrano GX and turn on DVCC. This 12V 334Ah lithium battery then becomes the controlling BMS for the whole system. It sends out its own charge voltage, charge current and discharge limits. The GX holds your Victron inverter-chargers and solar charge controllers to them. The GX also reads state of charge straight from the battery, so the numbers on your screen come from the battery's own BMS.
The power side matches the brains. The BMS is rated 300A continuous, with 600A for up to 10 seconds. That's enough for a large 12V inverter running a microwave, an induction cooktop, a rooftop air conditioner or a small welder in a work van. Epoch recommends 150A for everyday draw, so heavy all-day inverter use spreads well across two batteries in parallel. Its 2A active balancing keeps the cells matched across the full charge range.
12334A-MC vs. 12334A-H: Choosing an Epoch 334Ah Battery
Both 334Ah Essentials batteries store 4.28kWh, heat themselves for cold-weather charging and connect to the Epoch Li-Ion app. The difference is where they live and what they talk to. Choose the MC for a 12V Victron system with a GX device and inverter loads above 200A. It's made for a dry interior spot, like under a bed, in a dinette bench or inside an electrical cabinet.
Choose the Epoch 12V 334Ah Essentials (12334A-H) if you want a BCI Group 31 footprint or a lighter 60 lb battery. Its IP54 case handles dust and splashes. It also runs up to four in series, so it's the one for a 24V, 36V or 48V bank. Its BMS is rated 200A continuous with a 400A peak for 3 seconds. For that model, Epoch documents Bluetooth monitoring only, with no wired link to a GX.
Victron Lithium Battery Bank With Automatic Host and Node Roles
Adding batteries is plug and play, up to four (1,336Ah, 17.10kWh). Run standard straight-through RJ45 patch cables (Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat7) from each battery's LINK B port to the next battery's LINK A. The batteries work out which one hosts the GX connection. There are no DIP switches or addresses to set, and only the host's CAN port connects to the GX. Patch cables aren't included, so add a few to your parts list. Banks of up to 16 batteries are possible with Epoch design support.
Indoor RV Battery Installs and Cold-Weather Charging
The IP21 steel case is built for dry, protected spaces inside the rig. Think under a bed, in a dinette bench, inside an electrical cabinet or in a dry equipment compartment. Mount it upright, and secure it with a tray, strap, bracket or enclosure so the cables never hold the battery in place. Keep it out of engine bays, exterior bays, bilges and anywhere it could see spray or standing water.
For winter trips, an internal heating film warms the cells when a charger is connected and the cells are below 32°F (0°C). Charging starts once they pass 41°F (5°C), which can take up to an hour in deep cold. The heater only runs while a charger is connected, so it stays off while you're parked with no charging source. Discharge keeps working down to -4°F (-20°C).
Fuse and Cable Sizing for a 300A Lithium Battery
Epoch's manual pairs each load level with a copper cable and fuse. Up to 100A, use 2 AWG with a 150A fuse. Up to the 150A daily recommendation, use 1/0 AWG with a 200A fuse. Up to 200A, use 2/0 AWG with a 250A fuse. At the full 300A, use 4/0 AWG with a 350A Class T fuse. Go larger on runs over 6 ft (2 m) or in hot locations. Mount the main fuse or breaker within 18 in (45 cm) of the positive terminal. A Class-T fuse in a Blue Sea Systems fuse block covers that main position.
Our custom battery and inverter cables are made to order from 6 AWG to 4/0 AWG. The heavy run from battery to fuse to inverter arrives at the lengths your layout needs. In a parallel bank, Epoch calls for a separate fuse on each battery's positive lead, sized to that battery's continuous rating. Once you reach three batteries, Epoch also calls for positive and negative busbars with identical cable lengths. The M10 terminals torque to 13 to 17 Nm (115 to 150 in-lb).
Our team is happy to help with sizing cables and fuses for the loads you plan to run.
Charging From Solar, Grid and Alternator
Set every charging source to a 12V LiFePO4 profile. Use 14.2 to 14.4V bulk and absorption, and end absorption at 16.7A or 15 minutes. Set float off (or 13.3 to 13.6V) and re-bulk at 13.2V, with equalization and temperature compensation off. One battery takes up to 167A comfortably. All sources combined stay at or below 300A per battery. Before a GX joins the system, Victron chargers from a SmartSolar MPPT to a MultiPlus can run the battery on these values. Just set up a user-defined profile in VictronConnect.
For alternator charging, Epoch lists DC-DC chargers set to LiFePO4 values. It warns against any alternator system that can't be configured for LiFePO4. The Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger handles that job on a 12V system.

Frequently Asked Questions
Not when the battery talks to a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX. Over CAN, the GX uses the battery itself as the battery monitor, and Epoch lists a SmartShunt as optional.
Without a GX, the Epoch Li-Ion app shows state of charge over Bluetooth. If you'd like a Victron reading in VictronConnect too, a SmartShunt adds one.
Yes, as a standalone battery. Any 12V charger, converter, inverter-charger, solar charge controller or DC-DC charger with a LiFePO4 or programmable profile can charge it. Just use Epoch's settings, and keep an eye on it in the Epoch Li-Ion app.
Epoch documents closed-loop communication for Victron GX devices only.
Epoch plans runtime on 80% of capacity, about 3,420Wh per battery. For a new, fully charged battery at 77°F (25°C), that's roughly 34 hours at 100W or 6.8 hours at 500W. It's about 3.4 hours at 1,000W and 1.1 hours at 3,000W.
Inverter losses, cable runs, temperature and battery age all trim those numbers. Each battery you add in parallel adds another 3,420Wh.
Epoch lists UL 1642, UL 9540A and IEC 62619:2022 for this model. Epoch also lists CE and RoHS marks and UN 38.3 Class 9 transport testing. UL 1642 is a lithium cell standard, and UL 9540A is a thermal runaway test method.
If your AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) or insurer asks for a specific listing, check it against this list before you order.
Store it in a clean, dry place between 32°F and 95°F (0°C to 35°C), at about 50% charge or higher. Disconnect loads and chargers. Check the state of charge at least every three months, and top it up as needed.
Epoch's warranty excludes batteries left uncharged for more than three months or stored fully discharged. A quick check each season protects your coverage.
Epoch backs the MC with an 11-year manufacturer warranty for the original purchaser. Register within 90 days of purchase for full coverage. If you don't, the term starts from the battery's manufacturing date.
Claims go through Epoch's warranty portal or support team. Epoch issues an RMA number before anything ships back.
