Product Summary
Littelfuse 998 Series MEGA fuses are rated for 70Vdc, more than double the 32V rating of the standard Littelfuse MEGA fuse, so they protect branch circuits on 48V battery systems as well as 12V and 24V. Each 2 pack bolts onto M8 studs in a MEGA fuse holder or a Victron Lynx Distributor.

About the Littelfuse 70V MEGA Fuse
48V MEGA Fuse Ratings Down to 60A
Victron's Lynx Distributor manual asks for fuses matched to the highest voltage a circuit can reach, and it calls for 58V-rated MEGA fuses on 48V systems. The Littelfuse 998 Series clears that with a 70Vdc rating, so the same fuses serve 12V, 24V and 48V banks on a Victron Lynx Distributor.
The range starts at 60A and 80A, sizes that suit smaller 48V branch circuits such as a charge controller output or a DC-DC charger sharing a busbar with the inverter feed. Every size shares the same housing and M8 mounting, so one distributor can carry a mix of circuit sizes on the same hardware.
MEGA Fuse Sizes and Time Delay, 60A to 350A
Littelfuse's time-current data shows the 60A to 250A sizes holding their full rating for at least four hours, taking 1 to 15 seconds to open at 200% of rating, and opening in 0.1 to 1 second at 600%. That delay lets a brief surge pass, such as an inverter starting a well pump or a welder, while a sustained overload still opens the fuse.
The top two sizes work differently. Littelfuse rates the 300A to carry 75% of its rating (225A) for at least four hours. The 350A is a short-circuit protector only, so it guards a heavy cable against faults rather than overloads.
Heat lowers what any fuse can carry. Littelfuse's derating table puts a 200A fuse at 176A of continuous load at 68°F (20°C) and 148A at 149°F (65°C), so size for the warmest spot the fuse will sit in and keep the rating within what the cable can carry. Our team is happy to help with sizing.
MEGA Fuse AIC Rating and Where the Class T Fuse Goes
The interrupting rating, or AIC (Amperes Interrupting Capacity), is the largest fault current a fuse can safely clear. These fuses are rated 2,500A at 70Vdc, which suits branch circuits fed from a busbar.
A battery bank can push fault current well past that figure, so the main battery connection belongs on a Class T fuse rated 20,000A interrupting. With the Class T fuse protecting the bank, the MEGA fuses handle the individual circuits downstream: the inverter, charge controller and DC loads.
MEGA Fuse Holder Mounting on M8 or 5/16" Studs
Each fuse has two 0.34 in (8.6 mm) holes on 2 in (51 mm) centers, sized for M8 studs, and they also fit the 5/16" studs on our MEGA Fuse Holder. Littelfuse's datasheet (revised 09/24/2026) lists an M8 mounting torque of 177 in-lb ±9 (20 Nm ±1). The stud you bolt to sets the limit, though, so follow its spec: 89 in-lb (10 Nm) on the holder and 124 in-lb (14 Nm) for the fuse nuts on a Victron Lynx Distributor.
For the cable runs, we crimp custom battery cables to order from 6 AWG to 4/0 AWG, with the lug you pick for each end so the ring terminal matches the stud.
