Description

Sol-Ark 18k-2P descriptive image

The Sol-Ark 18K-2P hybrid inverter delivers up to 18kW continuous power from batteries and can pass up to 200A from the grid. This is enough to simultaneously power most home appliances. It’s an excellent inverter for fully off-grid systems, grid-tied systems, or systems selling back to the grid. Parallel up to 12 inverters for a maximum of 216kW of continuous power.

The 18K can receive up to 28.8kW from a solar array. It includes three MPPTs (Maximum Power Point Trackers), each with a maximum operating input current of 36A and a maximum short circuit current of 54A. MPPT technology maximizes solar harvest from the connected solar panels, and the inverter uses that power to run loads and charge batteries.

The 18K provides up to 18kW from batteries alone, requiring no additional grid power or PV (Photovoltaic) power to meet that demand. The 18K can also handle up to 36kW for 10 seconds, meaning it can run connected loads while starting a high surge item like a pump or compressor.

Pair the 18K with most batteries including Pytes and Renon. Batteries connect to the 18K through CAN or RS485. All connections must use an RJ45 connector, and the CAN port is designed for BMS (Battery Management System) communication. It’s possible to communicate with the BMS through either CANBus or Modbus protocols.

Sol-Ark security features include US engineered firmware and RSD (Rapid Shutdown) technology. It’s possible to connect an external RSD button like the IMO RSD Initiator to the 18K. When activated, the 18K disables outgoing AC power and sends a disconnect signal to connected and compatible RSD transmitters and devices.

To smooth the installation process, Sol-Ark includes several items with the inverter. The 18K comes with a CAT5e communication cable, a 4mm and 8mm allen wrench, a temperature sensor, a WiFi dongle, and more. These expedite the installation process, and the WiFi dongle enables remote monitoring and configuration.

Remote monitoring is easy as the included WiFi dongle connects the 18K to WiFi or Ethernet. Once connected, MySolArk, Sol-Ark’s system management app, provides system access. The US monitored and controlled app is accessible through a mobile device or a desktop, and it shows system and device information like battery SOC (State of Charge %), power to or from the grid, and current load demand.

This information makes it easy to monitor the system remotely as access is possible worldwide through the internet. It’s also possible to configure some settings through MySolArk, making it easy to adjust the system as needed.

Choose Sol-Ark’s 18K-2P hybrid inverter to power many loads at once. Connect it to an off-grid system with solar, or connect it to the grid for grid sell back capabilities.
