About the Epoch Pro Series Communications Box
Pro Series batteries share data with each other over their LINK ports. The Communications Box carries that data to the rest of your system. It collects BMS data from the bank and puts it into the protocol your inverter or onboard network reads. That way, the gear running your power system sees the same state of charge and status the batteries do.
Epoch's manual for the Epoch 12V 300Ah Pro Dual Purpose battery names this box as the way to connect that battery to Victron systems or NMEA 2000 networks. It earns its place on a networked bank, a boat or coach with a data backbone, or any system where the inverter needs battery data.
Victron and Inverter Battery Communication
Epoch's protocol list covers Victron plus more than 20 other inverter brands, grouped into a handful of settings. On a Victron system, battery data goes to the GX device, such as the Victron Cerbo GX MK2. The GX device then shares it with the rest of your Victron gear.
Epoch notes that Victron integration depends on the GX device, inverter-charger, cable, firmware and configuration. On advanced installs, Epoch also recommends having a qualified professional do the integration. The job comes down to matching the cable, the protocol setting and the battery addressing to your gear.
NMEA 2000 and RV-C Battery Monitoring for Boats and RVs
Choose NMEA 2000, and the bank's data goes onto the boat's network backbone, where compatible helm displays can pick it up. The RV-C and CIBUS settings do the same for coach networks that use them.
Plug the Epoch Pro Series 5in touch screen into the box's T-monitor port for a full-time readout of the whole bank. You use the screen's menu to pick the protocol.

Frequently Asked Questions
Not for basic charging and loads. A single battery or a small bank runs on its own. The Epoch Pro app covers monitoring over Bluetooth, and the 5in touch screen can wire straight to the primary battery.
Epoch doesn't publish a separate limit for the box. The batteries set it. The 12V 300Ah Pro Dual Purpose allows up to 16 batteries in parallel on a 12V bank. It also allows up to 4 in series (48V class), with as many as 4 strings in parallel (4S4P).
Follow the manual for your Pro Series model for cable order and addressing.
Epoch lists it for Pro Series batteries and doesn't confirm other lines. The V2 and V2-T Elite batteries are set up for Victron communication on their own. GC2 golf cart modules use their own CANbus accessories.
