Description
The Sol-Ark 18K-2P is a split-phase hybrid inverter designed to deliver 18kW of continuous power at 120/240VAC with 36kW surge capacity for 10 seconds. It integrates three MPPT controllers accepting up to 28.8kW of DC input across six PV string inputs, with an operating voltage range of 150-425V and maximum input voltage of 500V per MPPT.
The unit features 200A grid passthrough capability, eliminating the need for sub-panels in whole-home backup configurations. Battery charging and discharging operate at up to 350A, supporting 48V battery banks with both lithium and lead-acid chemistries. The inverter requires a minimum 200Ah battery capacity for proper operation.
Three independent MPPT controllers allow mixed array orientations with 36A maximum operating current per tracker. The MPPTs maintain 97.6% peak efficiency while supporting both series and parallel string configurations. Combined with AC coupling capability, total system PV can exceed 40kW through integration with grid-tied microinverters or string inverters.
Operating modes include grid-tied with sell-back, zero export, time-of-use optimization, and off-grid operation. The inverter automatically transitions between modes based on grid availability and programmed parameters. Transfer time to backup power measures 4ms using internal transfer switches. External current transformers enable load monitoring and peak shaving functionality.
The IP65-rated enclosure operates at less than 50dB and includes integrated Arc Fault Circuit Interruption (AFCI) and Ground Fault Detection Interruption (GFDI). Communication interfaces include CANbus and RS485 for battery BMS integration, dry contacts for generator control, and built-in WiFi/LAN for monitoring. The unit measures 34×18.3×11.1 inches and weighs 137 pounds.
Stackable configurations support parallel operation of multiple units for increased capacity. The inverter is certified to UL1741SB and IEEE1547-2018 standards with a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
