The MidNite Solar MNWBJR WizBang Jr. is a current sense module that connects to standard 50mV/500A shunts to provide comprehensive battery monitoring capabilities for MidNite Solar Classic and KID charge controllers as well as Rosie and Little Rosie inverters. The module reads amperage data directly from the shunt, enabling system-wide current monitoring that accounts for all charging sources and loads simultaneously, not just individual device output current.

The unit attaches directly to the sense terminals of Deltec MKB or equivalent 50mV/500A shunts using the included hardware. Installation requires connection to the battery-negative side of the shunt for low-side current measurement. A communication wire links the WizBang Jr. to the charge controller or inverter’s communication port, transmitting real-time current data for display on the device’s LCD screen or through the MNGP2 graphics panel.

Physical dimensions measure 5 inches by 4 inches by 2 inches with a weight of 1 pound. The module features dual sensing terminals that accept the shunt’s sense screws with lock washers for secure mechanical and electrical connection. The communication interface uses a proprietary protocol compatible with MidNite’s network architecture, allowing integration into existing MidNite monitoring systems.

When used with charge controllers, the WizBang Jr. enables end-amps termination, state-of-charge calculation, and days-between-bulk scheduling. End-amps functionality terminates the absorption stage based on actual battery acceptance current rather than time alone. In battery backup systems with Rosie inverters, the module provides state-of-charge monitoring without requiring a charge controller, making it suitable for grid-tied backup configurations or AC-coupled systems.

Compatibility extends to Classic 150, 200, 250 models and the KID charge controller with direct display integration when running firmware version 1758 or newer. Classic Lite models require either the MidNite Local Application or an MNGP2 graphics panel for data display. The module works with all Rosie inverter variants including the 7000W Rosie and 3600W Little Rosie for SOC monitoring through the MNGP2 interface.

The module can coexist with other battery monitoring systems such as Magnum BMK units when installed using #8 ring terminals on the same shunt. Temperature compensation calculations support standard lead-acid battery profiles with adjustable reference points and capacity change rates per degree Celsius. Scale factor adjustment allows calibration for alternative shunt ratings when using non-standard current sensors. The unit requires no external power supply, drawing operational power through the controller or inverter connection.
