About the Epoch Group 31 Battery Tray
A dual purpose battery works two shifts. It sends a hard cranking pulse to start the engine, then runs house loads for hours between starts. The Epoch 12V 172Ah Dual Purpose covers both from a single Group 31 case, and this is the tray Epoch makes to hold it.
Group 31 Battery Tray Fit and Mounting
Epoch recommends mounting it horizontally unless Epoch approves another orientation for your battery. How well the battery stays put depends on the surface and fasteners you choose. Leave room around the case for the tray edges, cable bend radius and terminal boots, plus enough clearance to lift the battery out for service.
Short, heavy cranking cables keep voltage drop down when the engine turns over. Our custom battery cables are made to order from 6 AWG to 4/0 AWG.

Epoch built it around the 12172A-DP. It says the tray may also work with many standard Group 31 lithium, AGM or lead-acid batteries. Group 31 cases vary, though, so check your battery's base dimensions, terminal clearance and cable routing against the tray first.
