I final piece to the puzzle

I was so tired of dialing in my generator RPM every time my batteries would get low during a storm. Sometimes it would take twenty minutes of adjusting before my inverter would switch over to the generator input. No longer. Now, the generator starts and the Chargeverter charges the batteries and the inverter continues to run the house un-interrupted. Great solution.

Game changer in external charging

I love this charger! I'm off-grid using Outback inverters and although they have a transfer switch and a charger built in and work great, my Honda eu7000 inverter generator is now 11 years old and has around 5500 hours on it. Meaning, it will die someday and I am not going to spend $6k for a new one. All the non-inverter generators cause most of my electronics to complain in the house. Exactly why I HAD to but the inverter generator 11 years ago. Now I know I can buy a similar "off-brand" inverter for around $2k BUT, using this charger I can stop using my inverter's charger and transfer switch keeping everything in the house running on the inverters (good power) and still get 5000w into my batteries. Meaning I can buy a $700 generator instead. Note that you MUST have a 240v generator that can do a continuous output of 5500w (not surge rating) in order to get the full 5000w/100a out of this charger. It seems to have a good power factor in that when maxing out the charger at around 90 amps at ~56v (~5000w) my generator is pulling 5600w. The "ramp-up" feature of the charger is awesome in that it doesn't cause a huge "hit/surge" on the generator. Although it is so. It takes about 5 mins for it to get to full output. Make note that this sucker puts out some heat! So you'll have to plan for a way to dispose of it otherwise you'll have a sauna in whatever room you have it in. That's not a fault of the unit, 5000w is going thru it and THAT is a lot of heat! Most hair driers put out 1500w max. So imagine 3 of them blowing together! I recommend using some standoffs (I used small pieces of copper/brass pipe with long screws) to keep it away from the wall and help it cool better (see pix below). I have used it for a total of about 12 hours so far (over 3 different occasions) and it has been flawless.

Cables Don't Fit My Battery

I can't try this charger because the cables that came with it don't fit my EG4 wall mounted battery :-( <em>While this review was submitted as part of Current Connected’s Review Incentive Program, all opinions expressed are genuine and based on actual product experience. Sorry to hear this product didn't meet the mark out of the box! EG4 does make adapter cables to replace the ring terminal cables in order to fit onto a 280Ah EG4 WallMount battery, and you can find it here: https://www.currentconnected.com/product/eg4-electronics-chargeverter-adapter-cables-for-chargeverter-gc-to-280ah-wallmount-battery/ We have also updated the Chargeverter-GC listing to be more clear on the connections. Thank you for your feedback!
