MidNite Solar Rosie 7048 48V 7kW Inverter 120A Charger, High Surge UL 458 Mobile and UL 1741 Residential Inverter-Charger

MidNite Solar’s Rosie 7048 is a standalone inverter that can take in AC or DC power and output 7kW of split-phase 120/240Vac power to loads within the home. It is capable of providing up to three times its rated output during power surges.

The Rosie inverter is intended for 48Vdc battery systems and provides up to 120Adc charging when receiving power from the grid or a generator. This inverter has minimal idle consumption, measured at 30W.

The Rosie’s transfer switch can bypass 60Aac of grid power, and it can invert additional power from the batteries to cover demanding loads. When the Rosie is connected to a 120Vac power supply, it can still output 120/240Vac by bypassing the one leg of 120Vac coming in and inverting the other leg of 120Vac from battery power.

There are two versions of the Rosie, where the first is the Renewable Energy (RE) version and the second is the Mobile (M) version. The RE version is intended for stationary systems like those connected to houses and cabins.

The M version is intended for mobile systems such as RVs and boats. The primary difference is that the M version has a dynamic neutral-ground bonding relay, which releases or adds in the neutral-ground bond to prevent duplicate bonds in the circuit.

The Rosie is programmed and controlled through the MNGP2 graphical control panel. The MidNite Hawke’s Bay and Barcelona charge controllers have an MNGP2 built into them, controlling the entire system from one place.

Two Rosie inverters can be connected in parallel and commissioned using the MNGP2. Once the first Rosie is commissioned, the second Rosie will automatically take on the settings and configurations of the first Rosie. Additional inverters can be stacked for larger installations, including the option to configure for three-phase 120Y/208V operation.

There are two AUX terminals that are programmable with 15 options to choose from. Each terminal can provide 250mA of power at 12Vdc, which can power a connected relay. A separate power source is required to power the device connected to the relay.

MidNite includes auto-generator start (two-wire) with the Rosie, programmable to start and stop a generator based off battery voltage, state of charge (if connected to a Whiz Bang Jr shunt) and time. When connected to grid power, it can connect to and disconnect from grid based off similar parameters.

By connecting two 22 AWG wires from the battery terminals to the RBS (remote battery sensor) ports on the inverter, the inverter sees the battery voltage at the battery. This ensures that the settings based on voltage are accurate as some voltage is typically lost through the wires between battery and inverter.

Midnite has a convenient solution for wiring the inverter, the Rosie E-Panel, which provides AC and DC disconnects, along with over current protection.
