About the MidNite Solar MNBTS
The MidNite Solar MNBTS gives your charge controller a direct reading of battery bank temperature. Charging needs shift as batteries heat up and cool down, and this sensor lets the controller respond to conditions at the battery instead of conditions at the controller. MidNite builds the sensor in the USA and backs it with a 5-year warranty.
How Temperature Compensation Works
With the sensor connected, the controller applies temperature compensation to its charge voltage. Cold batteries receive a higher charge voltage to reach full charge, and warm batteries receive a lower voltage to reduce overcharging. On the Classic, the T-Comp setting in the Battery menu lets you adjust the compensation value to match your battery manufacturer’s charging specifications.
Compatible MidNite Solar Controllers
The MidNite Solar MNBTS connects to the BATT TEMP jack on MidNite Classic charge controllers and also works with The Kid. MidNite ships this sensor with Classic controllers and with the marine version of The Kid, so this listing serves as a replacement for those units or as an add-on for the standard Kid. In multi-Classic systems, one sensor connected to a single Classic can share temperature data across the Follow-Me network with BTSNET turned on.
