Description
IntegraRack designs simple solar mounting solutions that are lightweight and durable. The 8° MultiBallast solar mounting kit holds any size of solar panel at an 8° angle. It’s ideal for installation on a flat surface like a roof, patio, or back yard. Each mount uses aircraft grade aluminum so the final product is sturdy and light. This makes them easy to ship without compromising quality.
The modular components in these kits slide together, making their setup easy for DIY installers and reducing installation time. The included components connect to create a sturdy solar panel frame. The additional wind spoiler prevents wind from accessing the panel’s underside, increasing the system’s maximum wind speed tolerance.
A solar installation requires one kit per solar panel and one IR-W5MBCB kit per row. Each solar panel also requires one wind spoiler. A row with 12 solar panels needs 13 MultiBallast kits and 12 wind spoilers.
Each kit requires two 20lb or 30lb cinder blocks from a local hardware store. When anchored with 20lb cinder blocks, 24ft panels can withstand up to 90mph winds and 34sqft panels can withstand up to 65mph winds. With a 30lb cinder block, a 24sqft panel can withstand up to 120mph winds, and a 34sqft panel can withstand up to 95mph winds. Regardless of cinder block size, a 24sqft panel can withstand up to 100psf snow load, and a 34sqft panel can withstand up to 65psf snow load.
It’s also possible to anchor the MultiBallast racks with one tube of Sikaflex 1A Polyurethane Sealant for every 10 mounts. This provides another simple way to anchor each mount to a roof or patio.
All IntegraRack Multiballast systems conform to UL 2703 when properly installed. This standard addresses the mechanical and bonding properties of a solar system. As a UL 2703 kit, these components bond to eliminate differences in voltage, protecting both equipment and personnel. For additional bonding protection, use the IR-B1 Bonding Brackets between solar panel rows.
Choose IntegraRack’s 8° MultiBallast racking system for a lightweight yet durable solution for mounting solar panels of any size.
Important: Make sure the roof can support the added weight of the solar panel system.
