This 48V battery with 16kWh of storage outputs up to 200A continuously and can surge up to 300A for 15 seconds. This means it can continue powering multiple loads while starting a high surge item like a compressor or well pump. A single battery can back up a small system, and it’s possible to wire up to 16 batteries with the Pytes Hub for a total of 256kWh of storage. An average US home uses 32-70kWh daily (2-5 V16 Batteries), so 256kWh is enough to power commercial or industrial applications.
Pytes’ dedication to quality includes multiple safety features. The V16 safety features include a BMS (Battery Management System), fire suppression system, current limiter, precharge circuit, and RSD (Rapid Shutdown) capabilities.
Pytes designed the integrated BMS for maximum compatibility with their batteries. It continuously monitors the battery for potentially dangerous voltage, current, and temperature. If any of these items exceed the set limits, the BMS can send out alarms or take other measures to reduce the fire risk or prevent damage to the system.
LiFePO4 batteries are some of the safest in the industry. When properly installed, they are unlikely to catch fire. For additional protection, Pytes designed the V16 with a fire suppression system and safety vent. Temperature sensors installed on the battery cells indicate if the battery temperature reaches a dangerous level, and the fire suppression system and safety vent activate to suppress a fire and prevent the build up of dangerous gasses.
RSD is important in any energy system. It provides a way for firefighters or other emergency personnel to eliminate dangerous power during an emergency. The V16 includes a dry contact port, and it’s possible to wire an external RSD device like the IMO RSD button to this location.
Geographically, it’s possible to install this battery nearly anywhere. With an ingress protection rating of IP66, C4-M corrosion resistance, and an internal heater, it’s ideal for coastal or cold weather climates. It’s dustproof, waterproof, and can safely charge or discharge in temperatures as cold as 0°F. Pytes recommends installing this battery out of direct exposure to the weather, but with this temperature range, it’s possible to install it in an unheated shed or similar structure.
