Description
The SI32-PEL64R-4 from IMO Precision Controls is a tool for the purpose of connecting and disconnecting PV circuits for safe installation and maintenance. This device safely disconnects two positive and two negative wires, extinguishing arcs caused by the DC power from the solar panels within 3ms guaranteed.
The internal spring mechanism moves with the handle, but it snaps the contacts into the ON or the OFF position to increase the speed at which the circuit is opened and closed. Less time taken to switch means less time that the electricity can arc.
This disconnect switch is polarity independent, meaning that there are no set positive or negative positions in the switch, and it is rated for up to 600Vdc at up to 32Adc. It includes knife edge contacts, arc cooling chambers and a self-extinguishing plastic enclosure, maintaining optimal safety, even in the event of system or wire failure.
IMO’s DC Disconnect Switch is certified for many safety ratings in multiple countries, including the US, Canada, and Australia. It is also NEMA 4X rated when mounted accordingly, safe for outdoor weather conditions.
Installation is simple, with the maximum torque value being 1Nm.
As all photovoltaic installations must be equipped with DC isolators per IEC 60364-7-712, IMO’s switch-disconnector is a cut-and-dry choice for any system.
