Frequently Asked Questions

Not necessarily. VRM provides the same monitoring and control through any browser or the VRM app on your phone. The GX Touch is for installations where you want a dedicated local display that works without pulling out a phone or opening a laptop. It's also the only option when there is no internet connection. For systems with reliable internet access, the GX Touch is a convenience rather than a requirement.

Yes. The Cerbo GX has a standard HDMI output, so any HDMI display will show the Cerbo interface. The difference is that third-party monitors are not touchscreens through the HDMI connection alone and they lack the IP54 rating and purpose-built mounting system of the GX Touch.

No. The GX Touch draws power from the Cerbo GX through the USB portion of the included cable. There is no separate power connection to run.

The GX Touch mounts from the front side of a panel using four screws. You drill four small holes, no rectangular cut-out needed. Victron sells a wall mount bracket separately for surface-mounting to a wall or bulkhead. If you're replacing an older Color Control GX, Victron also makes a CCGX cut-out adapter that lets the GX Touch 50 or 70 drop into the existing panel opening. All mounting hardware for the standard top-mount installation is included with the display.

The 5-inch (GX Touch 50) fits tighter spaces and works well when the display is within arm's reach, like an RV dashboard or a small equipment panel. The 7-inch (GX Touch 70) is easier to read from a few feet away and gives more room to navigate menus on systems with a lot of connected devices. If your panel has the space and you're not constrained on budget, the 7-inch is the more comfortable daily experience. If space is tight or the display will always be within a couple feet, the 5-inch does the same job.

Not amazed with respect to value. Use a Tablet or VRM!

I was originally hesitant to buy the Cerbo GX let alone the Touch screen since the Victron Connect App was pretty robust. I was half right. Cerbo allows you connect remotely, whether from home or across country. The features of VRM are amazing. That said, I never see myself sitting in my shop staring at this 7" screen.. No added value over Victron Connect App in my opinion. The screen itself works fine, just pricey and you can do everything from your Computer inside your home. Why buy this if you have a computer/Mac/ or tablet??

Excellent UI

Great, really convenient being able to see exactly what it going on in my my system. Along with programming the Cerbo and other devices.
