Running three individual MRBF fuse holders off a bus bar works, but it means three separate source connections, three mounting locations, and three insulating covers to satisfy ABYC requirements. The 5196 consolidates all of that into one block with a single source connection, one insulating cover, and one mounting footprint. In a crowded engine compartment or battery box, that reduction in connection points and hardware adds up. Fewer connections also means fewer potential failure points and less voltage drop across the distribution path.
Common Source Configuration
The 5196 uses a shared input bus bar, meaning one source connection feeds all three fuse positions. This is the correct block when you need to distribute a single battery bank or DC bus to multiple loads, such as an inverter, windlass, and bow thruster on the same bank. If you need independent inputs (for example, three separate charger outputs feeding three separate battery banks), the 5194 Independent Source block is the right choice instead.
Wiring and Installation
All terminals can be oriented so wiring exits from a single side, which helps in tight engine compartments or battery boxes. The M8 stud terminals accept standard 5/16"-18 ring terminals and allow stacking for parallel connections. One-piece stainless steel flange nuts keep connections secure without needing a separate washer.
