Description
Victron Energy MultiPlus-II 48V 5kVA 120V – UL 1741 Certified Inverter-Charger
Victron’s 48V MultiPlus-II 5kVA 120V 70A inverter-charger is UL 1741 certified, making it a capable and code-compliant off-grid inverter option for North American installations. Whether you’re building a complete off-grid solar system from scratch, expanding an existing home solar power system, or designing a system for a client, the UL 1741 listing means this unit meets the stringent North American safety and anti-islanding standards. These certifications give confidence to both home installers and licensed electricians.
Built for Real Loads With 4kW Continuous Power and 9kW Surge Power
With 4kW of continuous output power and a peak surge capacity of 9kW, the MultiPlus-II handles demanding loads like well pumps, air compressors, refrigerators, and power tools. This capability makes it an ideal inverter for worksites, shops, or other high-demand installations.
Two AC Outputs and Smart Load Management
The MultiPlus-II features one AC input and two separate AC outputs. The first output is powered continuously from the grid, a generator, or a battery bank. The second output is only active when AC input is available, making it the ideal place to connect high-draw, non-critical loads like a water heater or EV charger. This built-in load management keeps your critical circuits live even with a low battery level.
PowerAssist and PowerControl Get the Most Out of Every Watt
When connected to a generator or limited grid source, PowerControl automatically caps the battery charger’s draw to prevent overloading the incoming power. PowerAssist goes a step further: when your loads temporarily exceed what’s coming in from AC, the inverter seamlessly adds power from your wall mounted or server rack batteries to cover the gap. When your solar system for home backup produces more than you consume, that excess energy automatically redirects to charge the batteries. This results in intelligent energy usage without manual intervention.
Millisecond Transfer Time
In the event of a grid or generator failure, the MultiPlus-II switches to battery power in under 20 milliseconds. This is so fast that computers, NAS (Network Attached Storage) drives, and sensitive electronics continue operating without interruption. This makes the MultiPlus-II a natural choice in a home solar power system where uptime matters.
Scalable for Split Phase and Three Phase Systems
Two units can be stacked in a split phase configuration to deliver the standard 120/240V used in most USA residences. For a larger residence or a commercial installation, you can also configure three or more units for three phase power.
Fully Programmable via VictronConnect
The MultiPlus-II is configured and monitored through Victron’s VictronConnect app or VE.Configure software. You can use it to adjust the battery information, set input current limits, or create automated responses. Pair it with a Cerbo GX to remotely monitor and control your system from anywhere with Victron’s free VRM portal.
UL 1741 & CSA 22.2 Certified
This version of the MultiPlus-II carries the UL 1741 and CSA C22.2 certifications, meeting North American compliance requirements for grid-interactive and standalone inverter installations. These certifications are often required for permitted builds, whether a residential off-grid solar system, a cabin, or a mobile application.
