The SOK 48V Server Rack Battery: Power and Convenience Combined

The SOK 48V Server Rack Battery is a 5.12kWh rack battery with a modular and user-serviceable design. Whether you need to power a whole home system, a datacenter or a telecom room, this battery delivers remarkable capacity in a minimal amount of space.

Uncompromising Quality and Safety

SOK has a longstanding reputation for delivering exceptional quality and safety at a value-conscious price point, and the SK48V100 is no exception. This Grade A+ Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery pack is designed to seamlessly fit into standard 19” EIA server-rack type battery enclosures or the custom-built SOK Server Rack. With a 16S (48V nominal) 5.12 kW-h LiFePO4 battery bank and a battery management system (BMS), the SK48V100 ensures automated and maintenance-free battery operation, offering a typical lifespan of over 4000 cycles.

Versatility and Expandability

The SK48V100 battery is an ideal choice for medium to large-scale off-grid, grid-interactive energy storage systems (ESS), server and backup applications. Its reliability, quality, expandability, and serviceability make it a perfect fit for a wide range of applications.

Key Features:

  • User-Serviceable Design: The SOK battery allows field servicing, unlike competing batteries that are permanently sealed and non-serviceable. You can replace every component within the battery pack with just a Phillips screwdriver and a 10mm wrench.
  • Enhanced Safety Features: The built-in smart BMS provides comprehensive protection against overcharging, discharging, and short circuits. It also features low temperature charging protection, ensuring optimal performance even in extreme conditions.
  • Extended Cycle Life: The SK48V100 offers impressive longevity and reliability with high-capacity cells that retain 80% capacity after 4000 cycles. That is even at a 100% Depth of Discharge (DOD) with a 1C rate.
  • Seamless Communication: The battery supports RS485 and CANBus communication protocols when using the appropriate communication cables.
  • Quick and Easy Installation: This battery is designed for rack mounting for a quick and easy setup.

Certification

UL9540 Certification (Pending): The certification process is currently in progress, providing added assurance of quality and safety. The SOK Battery SK48V100 is built to meet the highest industry standards.

Long-Term Assurance and Warranty

At Current Connected, we stand behind the quality and durability of our products. The SK48V100 battery comes with a 10-year manufacturers’ warranty.

I picked up 2 of the 48V server rack batteries. Packaging and Shipping were perfect. Everything in my new system is working perfectly. Great customer support from the team. I had a communication issue between the battery and my inverter. CC worked patiently with me and got the issue resolved going above and beyond my expectations.

    Much appreciated!

  2. Jay Heil (verified owner)

Just bought 8 of these and I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am with them and the people at CC. Absolutely zero install issues. So clean, easy and simple.
I wrote a detailed review on the Outback forum for those that want the details: https://forum.outbackpower.com/viewtopic.php?t=17400.

Only had them up for 4 days but been perfect so far. Everything is cool to the touch even when I was charging and discharging at up to 9.5kw. I’m probably going to end up getting 5 more as 25kwh doesn’t last as long as I thought it does 😀

Fantastic company, great products, awesome customer service! I’ve been working with Current Connected for awhile now. and have always found them to be helpful, courteous, professional and highly knowledgeable. Thank you for solving our battery dilemma with 6 SOK server rack batteries…and just as importantly, patiently answer all my questions!

I just completed installation and start-up of the 20K 120/240 Kit system, three 25K S0K battery racks, and forty-two 400W Rich Solar panels. A well-designed system and knowledgeable staff made the installation and start-up a breeze.

The well thought out complete package was beyond expectation, in every detail. Oversized cables hydraulically crimped with heat shrink and protective covers. No missing parts! The equipment was everything as described, top quality, very knowledgeable staff. I cannot say enough good things about the product and service.

The equipment was package and shipped on time, in very heavy-duty crates, on pallets organized in a way that made the installation simple and straight forward. Everything worked the first time.

I am now producing more electricity than I need! I am using all the equipment, A/C, refrigerators, freezers, and well pump, with plenty of power to recharge the battery bank every day. Worth every penny. I am now energy independent. I now use the public utility as my back-up source. Doubt I’ll ever need them.

I have been in business for over 40 years, have dealt with hundreds of suppliers, and I can say I have never had a better experience. 100 star rating!

  6. Michael Bugola (verified owner)

I’m off grid with a 48V DC coupled system with 2 Victron MPPT charge controllers. I wanted quality LiFePO4 batteries (SOK) from a reputable retailer with excellent tech support (Current Connected). So I purchased 4 SOK SK48V100 batteries over a year ago, and have been running them closed loop with my Victrons. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. In fact I was astonished at how easy it was to set up the closed loop communication. After downloading the requisite firmware (outlined in the Owner’s Manual) and installing the data cables, it was simple Plug and Play. Much better than my old lead acid batteries. Thank you!

Question:

Is this compatible with Sol-Ark Inverters?

Dexter
17-Dec-2022

Answer:

Yes! An added bonus is that this battery supports full closed-loop communication with ALL Sol-Ark Inverters. In fact this is the easiest inverter on the market to setup battery communications with. You can read more about this battery communicating with the inverter over in the instruction manual page dedicated to Sol-Ark Inverters here: https://www.currentconnected.com/sk48v100/manual-4-4/

Question:

Can I pickup from your warehouse?

Dexter
17-Dec-2022

Answer:

Please refer to our FAQ here: https://www.currentconnected.com/faq/

Question:

If my inverter doesn't communicate, can I still use this battery?

Dexter
17-Dec-2022

Answer:

Yes, however you will need to manually set the appropriate settings within the inverter manually, and run these batteries in an open-loop, voltage control based configuration.

Question:

Can the SOK server rack batteries be positioned vertically; either on their ends or sides?

[email protected]
05-Jan-2023

Answer:

In certain applications, Yes! We have a full page in the instruction manual dedicated to this question. You can check it out here: https://www.currentconnected.com/sk48v100/manual-2-4/

Question:

Is there any sort of terminal cover available for the SOK server rack batteries for the unused terminals (that are not connected to a bus bar or cable)?

[email protected]
05-Jan-2023

Answer:

Not currently, we are working on one. At this time, we do not have a solid eta.

Question:

What is the stud size on the terminals? 1/2"? 3/8"? Can't find this info in your online manual.

gdavidanderson1
14-Jan-2023

Answer:

Great question! They are M8x1.25 - for a ring terminal it would be best to use a 5/16" diameter terminal. The recommended torque for tightening these terminals is 15 Ft-lbs

Question:

What is the recommended standalone charger for these batteries? I'm having a hard time finding one that operates below 58.4v that other chargers seem to aim for.

grayfox107
29-Jan-2023

Answer:

We would recommend using the EG 4 Chargeverter.

Question:

Not listed, but to be certain... can these batteries communicate with a Magnum MS4448PAE?

gary_lankford
03-May-2023

Answer:

They do not support closed-loop communication, however, you can use voltage-based control by setting your absorption voltage at 57.6v, float voltage at 55.2v and low-voltage shutdown at 48v. It would work just fine for your application!

Question:

Do the batter cable covers that come in the battery box the same size as the ones you sell on your website for fitting 1/0 - 4/0 cables? The covers that come in the box seem too small for the 2/0 cables that came in the kit I purchased.

tellingson
20-Aug-2023

Answer:

The covers in the box are for 6AWG ~ 2AWG. We offer larger covers on our site that support up 1/0 ~ 4/0, and if you purchase our 5-battery kit, we include these larger covers with the kit.

Question:

Totally Off Grid Application: Is closed loop communication with SMA Sunny Island available?

[email protected]
21-Dec-2023

Answer:

Closed loop communication is not supported. If you choose either battery for use with a Sunny Island we would recommend using a Chargeverter. Using the Sunny Island to control charging without closed loop communication is not ideal.

Question:

My setup uses four of the SOK 48V 100Ah PRO batteries in conjunction with Victron hardware including a Cerbo GX and 48V Quattro inverter. Would a system like this benefit from a battery shunt/monitor such as the Victron SmartShunt or does the SOK's built in battery monitor make a shunt unnecessary?

[email protected]
19-Jan-2024

Answer:

The shunt is not a requirement as the built in BMS would properly monitor the batteries. That being said, the shunt would more accurate.

Question:

Can it do closed-loop communications with Schneider XW Pro inverter/charger?

rblankin
01-Feb-2024

Answer:

While there is a way to make it work, we do not support communication between a Schneider and SOK. We would recommend going with the EG4-LL as communication is supported.
