About the Marinco 15A 125V Straight Blade Power Inlet
The Marinco 150BBI is a flanged power inlet that gives you a permanent NEMA 5-15P connection point on the outside of an enclosure, hull, or wall. The front accepts a standard 15A household plug. The rear has screw terminals where you hardwire the circuit. This is how you get grid, generator, or shore power into a sealed space without running an extension cord through a door or hatch.
Common Uses
In solar and battery systems, this inlet is commonly used to connect a battery charger (like a Chargeverter or standalone charger) to an exterior power source. Mount it on the outside of an equipment enclosure, RV sidewall, or boat hull, hardwire the charger to the rear terminals, and plug in from outside whenever you need to charge from shore power or a generator. It's also used as a general-purpose power inlet for sheds, tiny homes, food trucks, and other structures that receive temporary or portable power.
Mounting and Installation
The inlet fits a 1.5-inch diameter cutout and offers two mounting options. Three screw holes around the flange allow direct surface mounting, or the threaded rear ring clamps down on the panel material from behind for a cleaner look. The terminal screws sit on the side of the housing, so they're protected from exposure when the inlet is flush-mounted against a wall or hull. Terminals are color-coded: black for hot, clear for neutral, green for ground.
Durability
The housing is UV-resistant for permanent outdoor installation in direct sun. Brass contacts provide corrosion resistance and reliable conductivity. The built-in flip cover protects the contact face from rain, dust, and debris when no plug is connected. Suitable for aluminum and fiberglass mounting surfaces.
Frequently Asked Questions
A receptacle (outlet) has slots you plug into. A power inlet has prongs that a plug connects over. The inlet is designed to be mounted on the outside of an enclosure and hardwired to the circuit inside, so power flows inward. You'd mount this on the outside of your RV, shed, or equipment enclosure and plug a standard extension cord or shore power cable into it.
Yes. The housing is UV-resistant and the built-in cover protects the contacts from weather when unplugged.
