Description

The Epoch 48V/30Ah group GC2 can sustain a load of 100A for 10 seconds. With a cycle life of 4000 cycles, the Epoch 48V is meant to be maintenance-free. With a smart BMS, the Epoch can protect itself from over-current, short-circuit, and high- and low-temperature disconnects. For easy monitoring, the Epoch has a mountable battery gauge and external ON/OFF switch. For setups with Victron, this battery comes with a CANBUS communication port allowing for communication between the battery and an external monitor (smart shunt)

Can I mount Epoch batteries on their side?

This is generally acceptable. Epoch states the following on their website:

“It is generally acceptable to position lithium batteries on their sides because lithium-ion batteries do not have any liquid electrolyte that can leak out. Unlike traditional lead-acid batteries, which contain liquid electrolytes and must be kept upright to prevent spills, lithium-ion batteries use a solid or gel-like electrolyte. This means they can be oriented in different positions without any risk of electrolyte leakage, making them more versatile in terms of installation and use. However, it’s still essential to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for safe handling and installation to ensure optimal performance and safety.”

Please note it is generally NOT ok to install lithium batteries upside down.
