About the Blue Sea Systems PowerBar 1000
The PowerBar 1000 is a tin-plated copper bus bar designed for systems where multiple large and small conductors need to terminate at a common point. At 1,000A continuous and 150V AC/DC, it handles battery mains, inverter feeds, windlass circuits, and thruster connections alongside smaller accessory wiring, all on one bar. The C11000 copper bus with tin plating provides low-resistance current transfer and corrosion resistance in marine and outdoor environments. It works equally well as a positive distribution bus or a common negative/ground bus.
Stepped Dual-Elevation Design
The bus bar uses a raised, stepped profile with two conductor elevations. This doubles the connection density compared to a flat bus bar in the same footprint, because cables on the upper step don't interfere with cables on the lower step. The upper elevation specifically matches the height of Class T and ANL fuse blocks, so you can mount those blocks directly to the PowerBar studs without jumper cables. That eliminates extra connection points, reducing voltage drop and potential failure points. If you're building a distribution system with a Class T fuse block feeding an inverter, the fuse block can bolt right onto the PowerBar.
Stud and Screw Terminal Layout
The 5/16"-18 terminal studs are press-fit (swedged) into the copper bus at 1 ton of force. They're not bolted through, so they won't spin or pull out under heavy cable tension. One-piece serrated flange nuts replace the traditional nut/lock washer/flat washer stack, giving you a secure vibration-resistant connection with a single fastener. Between the studs, 16 stainless steel screw terminals (11 x #8-32 on the upper level and 5 x #10-32 on the lower) accept smaller gauge wiring with captive lock washers. This lets you consolidate everything from 4/0 battery cables to 14 AWG accessory feeds on a single bar.
Cutting and Ganging
The bus bar can be cut to a shorter length if space is limited. Bi-directional end caps allow ganging multiple PowerBars together for expanded capacity when electrically isolated sections are needed on the same mounting rail. The 8-stud version covers most single-bank installations. The 12-stud version suits larger systems with more branch circuits or parallel battery connections.
Cover and Compliance
The snap-on insulating cover meets ABYC and USCG insulation requirements and includes a label recess for circuit identification. The UL 94-V0 rated glass-reinforced thermoplastic base resists deformation under heat.
Note: Blue Sea also manufactures this bar in a 3/8"-16 stud variant (models 1990 and 1991) for applications requiring the larger stud size. Current Connected stocks the 5/16" versions.
