The AFCI Kit comes with an AF(Arc Fault)/GF(Ground Fault) circuit board, as well as an AF sensing toroid and a GF sensing toroid. It allows for the detection of Arc Faults or Ground Faults in your PV side of the system. Made to work with both the Barcelona and the Hawke's Bay charge controllers.

The Arc Fault/Ground Fault Kit monitors for arc-fault and ground-faults, activating the remote trip circuit breakers which disconnect PV and Battery breakers when a fault is detected. The arc-fault sensor monitors for specific noise on the PV wires that are only present when arcing is occuring. The GF sensor looks for a 0.5A current differential between the PV wires to identify current flowing to ground.
Installation is straightforward. The Hawke's Bay and Barcelona controllers include a modular option board, which the circuit board included in this kit plugs onto. The wiring that runs to the PV array is route through the sensor cores for detection.
