Description

Victron SmartSolar Charge Controller – MPPT VE.Direct

Victron’s array of VE.Direct SmartSolar Charge Controllers includes options for nearly any size of solar system. Select from a maximum charging amperage range of 13-60A and maximum solar input voltage range of 75-250V for a 12V, 24V, or 48V system.

Regardless of size, the charge controller constantly monitors solar production with MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology. If production drops due to clouds or other obstructions, the charge controller adjusts the voltage and amperage levels and maximizes production. 

The SmartSolar Charge Controllers send incoming power to either the battery or to connected loads. It’s possible to configure these charge controllers to monitor the battery and activate a load when the batteries reach a set voltage or SOC (State of Charge %). This maximizes energy harvest from the solar panels.

Different sized charge controllers handle loads differently. The charge controllers smaller than the 100/30 have load terminals that can connect directly to the load circuit. The charge controllers 100/30 and larger utilize a VE.Direct TX cable to send an on-off signal to an external device but do not power it directly.

The Virtual Load and Battery Life features monitor the battery voltage levels to maintain battery health. If too much power is directed to loads instead of the batteries, the batteries cannot reach full charge. When this happens too often, the Virtual Load and Battery Life features deactivate loads so the batteries can fully charge at least once a week.

The VictronConnect app controls Battery Life and other basic charge controller settings. Use a smartphone or tablet with Bluetooth to access VictronConnect during initial setup and for local monitoring and maintenance.

The addition of a Cerbo GX provides advanced customization and automation options, and connection to the Cerbo GX enables customization from anywhere in the world through the VRM (Victron Remote Management).
