Victron Smart BatteryProtect for 12V-48V Systems, Automatic Load Disconnection and Reconnection with Loads up to 220A, Bluetooth Capability
SKU: Please select an option...

Product Summary
The Smart BatteryProtect is a programmable low-voltage disconnect that sits between the battery and DC loads, automatically cutting power when battery voltage drops below your set threshold. Disconnect and reconnect voltages are fully configurable through Bluetooth and VictronConnect, or selectable from nine presets using the programming pin. MOSFET switching means no relay contacts and no spark risk.
Specifications:
- Operating Voltage: 6-35V (12/24V auto-detect) or 24-70V (48V model)
- Disconnect Delay: 90 seconds (immediate when triggered by VE.Bus BMS)
- Reconnect Delay: 30 seconds after voltage recovers
- Overvoltage Protection: 16.3V / 32.6V (12/24V) or 64V (48V)
- Switching: MOSFET (ignition-proof, no relay contacts)
- Alarm Output: Open collector, 50mA max, 12-second delay
- System On/Off Input: Can be wired to a switch, relay, or BMS signal
- Operating Temperature: -40°F to 104°F full load (60% capacity at 122°F)

About the Smart BatteryProtect
The Smart BatteryProtect prevents battery damage by disconnecting DC loads before the battery is fully drained. When battery voltage drops below your programmed threshold, the unit waits 90 seconds (to avoid nuisance trips from brief voltage sags like engine cranking) and then opens the circuit. When voltage recovers above the reconnect threshold, it closes again after 30 seconds. Both thresholds are fully programmable through VictronConnect over Bluetooth, or selectable from nine presets using the included programming pin.
Not for Inverters or Charging Sources
The BatteryProtect is unidirectional and designed for DC loads only. It is not compatible with inverters, which have large input capacitors that trigger the unit's short circuit protection on connection. It is also not designed for reverse current from charging sources passing through it in the normal load direction. Victron does note in the manual that the BatteryProtect can be wired as a charge interrupter between a charger and a lithium battery in certain VE.Bus BMS configurations, but this is a specific use case with a different wiring arrangement.
MOSFET Switching
The BatteryProtect uses MOSFET transistors instead of mechanical relays. There are no contacts to arc or wear out, and no spark on connect or disconnect. This makes the unit ignition-proof, which matters in engine compartments and anywhere flammable vapors may be present.
Overvoltage Protection
In addition to low-voltage disconnect, the BatteryProtect also disconnects loads if voltage rises above 16.3V (12V systems), 32.6V (24V systems), or 64V (48V systems). This protects sensitive DC equipment from voltage spikes caused by charging system faults.
System On/Off and BMS Control
The on/off input accepts a switch, relay contact, or BMS signal, giving you manual or automated control over load disconnect independent of voltage thresholds. In lithium systems using a Victron VE.Bus BMS, the BatteryProtect can be configured to respond directly to the BMS disconnect signal, bypassing the 90-second delay for immediate shutdown when the BMS requires it.
