About the Pytes V5 48V 5.12kWh Lithium Battery
The Pytes V5 is a 51.2V nominal LiFePO4 battery providing 5.12kWh of energy storage with 100Ah capacity. The battery achieves UL 9540 system certification when paired with Sol-Ark 15K and 12K inverters, simplifying permitted installations. It occupies 4U of rack space and supports parallel connection of up to 16 units without a hub, or 96 units with the Pytes Hub for maximum capacity of 491.5kWh.
Built-In Heaters for Cold Climates
The integrated heating system activates automatically when battery temperature falls below 32°F, drawing up to 180W from the charging source to warm the cells at approximately 18°F per hour. This enables charging operations down to 14°F ambient temperature. Without heating activation, the battery charges between 32°F and 113°F and discharges from -4°F to 122°F. The heating function cannot be disabled and operates independently of the BMS to ensure cold-weather performance.
CAN and RS485 Communications
Communication interfaces include CAN bus, RS485, and a dedicated WiFi port for remote monitoring via the WiFi Stick. The battery uses closed-loop communication with compatible inverters to relay SOC, voltage, current, and alarm status directly to the inverter display. When configured as master battery in parallel systems, it consolidates data from all connected batteries for unified reporting. Compatible inverters include Sol-Ark, Victron, Growatt, Phocos, MUST, Deye, Goodwe, SMA Sunny Island, Studer, and most other 48V nominal inverters supporting lithium battery protocols.
100A Continuous Charge and Discharge for Full 1C Rating
The battery delivers 100A continuous charge and discharge current with surge capability up to 150A for 15 seconds and 180A peak. Round-trip efficiency measures 95% under standard conditions. The cells are tier 1 automotive grade LFP cells rated for over 6,000 cycles at 90% depth of discharge, backed by a 10-year warranty. Operating voltage range spans 44.8V to 57.6V, providing stable power across the entire discharge curve.
Parallel Batteries with Flexible Busbars
Each unit includes flexible busbars rated for 300A parallel connections, CAN/RS485 cascade cables, and 10AWG grounding wire. The V5 uses Phoenix M6 bolt terminals. The sophisticated BMS provides cell balancing, temperature monitoring across eight sensors, and comprehensive protection against overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent, and short circuit conditions. The BMS supports remote firmware updates when connected through the WiFi monitoring interface.
UL 1973, UL 9540A, and UL 9540 with Multiple Inverters
The unit is certified to UL 1973, UL 9540A, and IEC62619 standards. LED indicators on the front panel display operational status, SOC level, and fault conditions. The battery requires proper spacing between units in rack configurations to ensure adequate cooling and accommodate the busbar connections between batteries.
The Pytes V5 is UL 9540 with certain inverters, including many Sol-Ark, Luxpower, and Megarevo units.
Recommended Accessories
Yes, the Pytes V5 is UL 1973 and UL 9540 listed (UL 9540 with certain inverters), and it's passed its UL 9540A testing.
The Pytes V5 is UL 9540 listed with many Sol-Ark, Megarevo, and Luxpower inverters (among others), meaning it has a much better chance at getting permitted than non-UL 9540 batteries. Ultimately, it depends on your local AHJ (authority having jurisdiction) and their requirements for energy storage or battery backup systems.
When you buy the Pytes V5, you will get the battery, two flexible busbars for paralleling, a battery-to-battery communication cable, and a grounding cable.
While the Pytes V5 includes the racking ears for installing it in a server rack or other battery cabinet, it doesn't come with its own racking. Pytes offers many racking options, including the Stackable Brackets, the V-BOX-IC for indoor storage, the V-BOX-OC for outdoor storage, and the HV48100 for storing up to 13 Pytes V5 batteries in a single cabinet.
