These cells have been capacity tested by us and failed to meet their specified capacity.  Their typical capacity based on our testing is over 250ah.  Please purchase at your own risk.  Capacities under 250ah are covered and will be replaced under warranty for 30 days from the date of delivery.

 

Why are these cells not flat?
Different LiFePO4 cells are manufactured with different methods & techniques.  We see this with cylindrical LFP Cells such as the Panasonic 18650 cell.  Inside of these 271ah cells, listed here, is a similar construction to round cells.  The anode and cathode are rolled on themselves in an “oval” shape, and then inserted into the aluminum case (figure “A” below).  The result is that there is uneven stress on the soft aluminum case causing the centers of the case to expand outward.  Cells that are perfectly flat, such as cells manufactured by CALB, utilize the method shown in figure “B” below, which leads to one of the flattest cells possible.  Even though these cells are not flat, they still have sufficient material within to pull full capacity with a standard cell life cycle.  The roundness of the sides of the cell is different from a swollen cell, which is a cell that has been overcharged.

They need to be connected together with the appropriate bus bars.  Our default quantity is 1 busbar per cell, so a 4 cell pack would get 4 busbars.  You will also need  a battery management system,  sold separately.  If you need help to determine which BMS you need, feel free to contact us.

These cells are 3.2v cells and drilled & tapped for M6 hardware.  We highly recommend utilizing the included threaded stud, fully seated into the threads, as the aluminum terminal material is very soft and susceptible to being stripped out.  Stripped terminals are not covered under warranty.  We include the appropriate stud hardware with the cells, as well as a serrated nut.  These terminals are optimal because your busbar will have direct contact with the large terminal material, as compared to cells with laser-welded terminals that have small contact areas and added resistance of a second and sometimes third piece of material added to the terminal.

These CATL Batteries are supposedly brand new A-grade cells with QR codes in tact.  Our testing has shown otherwise.

Typically, 4 or more of these cells will be wired in series or parallel-series with a Battery Management System (BMS) to create a 12 volt battery, 8 cells for a 24v battery, or 16 cells for a 48v battery, with a suitable BMS. They may be paralleled at a cell level to increase your overall capacity (Ah).

It is very important to use a BMS to manage these cells.
LiFePO4 chemistry is easily damaged by over charging, over discharging, over/under temperature, and especially low temperature charging.  Use a BMS that monitors each series-connected cell (or group of parallel connected cells) and has a low-temperature cutoff.
